How do you
perceive the world?
Can you tell me in words that fully and completely describe your senses,
feelings and emotions?
What do you see?
What do you hear?
Is the water sweet for you or brackish?
Do certain aromas transport you back
to happy or sad times?
If you feel a warm breeze upon your fingertips, are you
touching it?
A lot of questions.
I have spent my life attempting to negotiate a world of
changing patterns and harsh lights. A world of myriad procedures that demand to
be put in place before every mundane action. An exhausting world of changes.
So many changes.
I began writing stories when I was young. First, I
created places I could escape to. Places where it was okay to be different.
Back then, my stories held onto the wonder of childhood. My imaginings led me
to lands where my cats still lived. Lands where everyone I had lost still
lived.
As time passed, the worlds I created grew darker and
were no longer sanctuaries. Of course, I still felt compelled to bring them
into existence. But they are now places I no longer care to visit.
One of these places is called Vatharlia.
